Mendocino Village is a peaceful hamlet built by the lumber industry, standing still in time on the edge of the NorCal world. Exploring this little town is one of my greatest joys. Not only to find all the little pathways between historic buildings, but especially the numerous open lots full of thick grasses, flowers like vetch and wild radish, even collared greens, rattlesnake grass and calla lillies. It's rare for a town to purposely keep these lots undeveloped and free and wild.
